doing AC sweep transfer function using MSO8104A scope

Hi,

that's not possible. But this scope can be controlled by SCPI commands for sure (I didn't check).

I have done somthing like this quite some time ago. HThe signal generator has been controlled via SCPI commands to set the frequency and amplitude, and the read out of the scope has been done as well via SCPI command for each single single set frequency. Both instruments have been controlled by a MATLAB script (you can use python or somthing similar). You also can make one sweep without your DUT, so you can compensate the amplitutde variation of the signal generator, or the analoge bandwidth-limit attenuation of your scope. But if the attenuation by the bandwidth (500 MHz) of your scope really starts to matter, you may consider the use of a Network Analyzer.
