Hi everybody

I want to know how switching power supply work?

Can you help me?

Regards,

Kamal

there exists a lot of different aspects on switching power supply, you can see something which you interest on **broken link removed**
good luck!

Get the book "Switchmode Power Supply Handbook" by Keith Billings (McGraw Hill). This is a great reference for SMPS designers.

This is a great handbook, but it is not a learning book!

It is better to get one of these two books to learn about SMPS (or both if you like):

Fundamentals of Power Electronics
by Robert W. Erickson, Dragan Maksimovic

Power Electronics : Converters, Applications, and Design

Later on the Switchmode Power Supply Handbook can be very useful reference, but not to learn how SMPS works.

I don't know this book, but it looks like a design book and not a book to learn the theory of SMPS.

I would get one of the two books I have already mentioned, to learn how SMPS works.

Later you can get other books I you like.
The handbook mentioned is a very good reference book for SMPS design, but you have to learn the theory from other books first.

The two books I mentioned earlier are very good for this and they are used at many universitiy courses in Power Electronics.
They contain both motor regulation and SMPS because theses two disciplines are very close related.
There are small assignments in each chapter.
There is also chapters about power components like MOSFETs, IGBTs, triacs, diodes etc.

I know a power electronics engineer in a big multinational power elctronics company and he recommended these two books.
Our teacher in power electronics also recommends these two books and we used one of the at the power electronics course.
You don't have to get both of them.

www.mcu.cz have switch power supply ebook, that is very cool and suitable for you!

That book is OK but for advanced user. What happened with it. An uploaded it here but moderator delete it. All of us were expecting him to upload it at mcu.cz but nothing.

Is there any knowledge about SMPS circuits with both AC and DC outputs in the books/sites you mentioned above??? :?:

I guess nobody could understand my question, let me explain. I need an SMPS design with both regulated DC output and AC output. In such a circuit how sould be the turns of the transformer calculated?

What kind of AC do you expect to get out of a SMPS?

Ante

here in download section you can find a handbook
thanks

Interactive Power Electronics Seminar (iPES)
The following Java applets are part of the Introductory Course on Power Electronics taught by Prof. Kolar at the ETH Zurich. The interactive and animated applets are used as aid for teaching in the classroom and are displayed using a laptop and a beamer. Furthermore, the applets do provide an opportunity for the students to experiment and learn at home more efficiently.
