[SOLVED] Dimming LED bulb from main supply AC 220V

Hello all friends,

I want to dim my LED bulb from main supply AC 220V. So How can I do? as you know we cannot put any circuit inside LED bulb. The only best way is dim from outside is main supply.

Refer to the product documentation. Some LED bulbs don't work with dimmers at all, some require special "trailing edge phase angle control" dimmers, some may work with standard triac ("leading edge") dimmers.

Yes u can do it with dimmer using triac. which also include zero voltage detection.(which bit difficult part)
serach google for light dimmer using triac u will get plenty of option and do it.

I already find on google and test it, but it is for dimming lamp not for LED. I cannot dim LED. It is the reason that I post here to ask some help...

why not u can dim LED too. because what triac do it just fires when zero voltage detector detect zero voltage and as per PWM that cycle get applied to load then whatever it is.

Please find the image .From that you can dim the bulb.I had tested and done that successfullly.

The clue as to why a standard dimmer doesn't work is printed on the lamp itself, "85-265V". The electronics inside the lamp are able to maintain constant current through the LED over that voltage range so phase control, whether leading or trailing edge are unlikely to work. You might get some limited control using a trailing edge dimmer but it would be tricky and probably not reliable.

I'm afraid that kind of LED is not really suitable for dimming at all. You would have to open it up and modify the circuit inside it. Unless you are experienced and confident working at voltages >300V I would not recommend that!

Of course, after 6 months they may have found a solution elsewhere alrready.

LED bulb have small circuit inside which makes DC voltage for powering LED. This circuit is power supply for LED which is usually done using one "big" capacitor ~1uF, 275VAC or similar for step down voltage to small DC value.
This is reason why it is not possible to dim LED.
