Hi, having a problem working out the following:

If a 12 bit DAC has a full scale voltage of 10V and uses binary coded input, what is the full scale output ; output voltage of an input code of 111100001111 and finally the voltage resolution?

any help would be much appreciated.

input: 1111 1111 1111 output: 10V
voltage resolution: (10/(2^12-1))= 0.002442
For input: 1111 0000 1111 output: 9.413919414

thanks for that.

what would the resolution be for binary coded decimal input?

With BCD for the given 12 binary digits there would be a total of 3 BCD digits which would result in 10^3=1000 combinations. Therefore the resoultion would be 10/(10^3-1)= 0.01001. To ensure the correctness of above calculations, for a input 123 the output would be 123*0.01001= 1.231231
