I am doing my final year project in Image Processing.I find the terms corner/edge interest point and interest points used interchangeably. All interest points are not corners while all corner points are interest points. It would be very helpful if someone explained this with a proper example to justify the above statement.

Regards,
Adi.

I did quick google search and found this in less than a minute by searching "image processing interest point corner point". I don't actually know much about image processing.
wikipedia page on corner detection talks about the difference between corner point and interest point.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corner_detection
In practice, most so-called corner detection methods detect interest points in general, rather than corners in particular.[citation needed] As a consequence, if only corners are to be detected it is necessary to do a local analysis of detected interest points to determine which of these are real corners...
"Corner", "interest point" and "feature" are used interchangeably in literature, confusing the issue. Specifically, there are several blob detectors that can be referred to as "interest point operators", but which are sometimes erroneously referred to as "corner detectors".

Interest point detection is a recent terminology in computer vision that refers to the detection of interest points for subsequent processing.

Corner detection is an approach used within computer vision systems to extract certain kinds of features and infer the contents of an image. Corner detection is frequently used in motion detection, image registration, video tracking, image mosaicing, panorama stitching, 3D modelling and object recognition.
