differnce between any microcontroller & arm

Hello,

I have a silly question (for most of experts):
What is the difference between an ARM(7 or more) and an Microcontroller?
Thanks for your replies.

Mehdi

arm what is microcontroller

ARM itself is a type of RISC microcontroller!!!

What are you actually comparing?

difference between arm and microcontrollers

ARM is RISC microcontroller!!!

different types of arm microcontrollers

ARM is a 32 bit RISC microprocessor core which may or may not form part of a microcontroller.

beginners kits microprocessor arm

Most microcontrollers used by "beginners" are 8bit and have a simple instruction set, the arm microcontroller has a more complex instructionset, you can shift, add and move in just one instruction. that is what makes it so powerfull. ARM microcontrollers also have different types of operating modes. And a vectored interrupt controller, and a fast interrupt controller. ARM is develloped for speed and low power (mobile devices). There are some good books with a very simple introduction.

If a microprocessor has some peripherals for control applications (timer,ADC, external interrupts, PWM generator etc.) and integrated memory, usually called as microcontroller.

ARM7 is a processor architecture. An ARM licensee company could produce both ARM7 based microcontroller and ARM7 based microprocessor.

hmm microcontroller in raw terms a microprocessor trainer kit in a ic package with all peripherals . ARM a ultra low power simple RISC core which can be clubbed with different peripherals to suit different applications. there are various flavors arm speed, size , features to suit different applications and requirements
