sir,
I want to control 5 relays using a ir remote control.. how to design a ir transmitter and receiver for this purpose... can i avoid a microcontroller in both transmitter and receiving side.. which encoder / decoder is suitable for my application...
Pls help me to design such system...

Thanks in advance

Soina

You might be able to do it with the Holtek HT12D/E.

Thank u sir,
i tried with Ht series .. it has transmit enable pin.. it should b high for transmission.. so i need a extra microcontroller to operate.. i dont want a microcontroller in my circuit.. how to design a remote control system with out a microcontroller.

Thanking You

Thank u for ur replay.. i need extra button to control TE pin.. otherwise i should connect a high signal to it.. if i connect high to TE the IR LED always glowing...
Thanking yOu

You can pull TE high with the other buttons using diodes and a pull-up resistor. [I just checked and the TE is actually active low]

Added after 3 hours 22 minutes:

Here is the sort of thing I meant for the HT12E. However, if you use the HT12A it will start transmission when you pull the data lines low, so it will save using the extra diodes etc. There are some application notes in the Holtek data sheet and on their site. Be careful though - it shows a couple of circuits in the data sheet that you shouldn't use!
