Greetings!

I have been tasked to design a 36W to 40W AC/DC LED driver (about 25.6V @ 1.4A output with a little overhead.) The design needs to have a PFC front end, unfortunately I've only ever worked with DC/DC converters and have never designed an AC front end other than simple tx, rectifier diodes, caps, mov etc.

Could someone point me to some good reading material and perhaps some examples so I can at least know what questions to ask? I don't even know what type of PFC I should be implementing. The design must meet UL approval.

Thanks in advance,

JMG

Hi JMG
Try to search these keywords in google : active PFC/ boost converter and PFC / how to design a PFC using boost converter . i'll bet if you search for those keywords you'll fine much of the interesting issues .

Best Wishes
