Hi all... why do we use enhancement mosfet in most of the applications... does it have any advantages compard to JFET and depletion type MOSFET... ofcourse it would have higher input impedance than JFET... apart from that does it have any other better characteristics...
I feel it because of the easy fabrication of enhancement mode MOS.You see in both depletion MOS and JFET there is a channel formed when the device is manufactured but it is not the case for a enhancement MOS.Channel is formed when Vgs=Vt(due to inversion). Thus you don't need to create a channel by yourself for the operation of the device since there is a virtual channel formation.
I agree with scintillatingstuffs.
Depletion MOS also conducts at 0V, therefore has less useful application.
However in some it can be use to control and provide constant current.
