dct or fft which is better and easier to impliment

dear all I am using fft for a siesmic signal monitoring.
One of my friend suggested me to use dct for this purpose.
because I want to impliment it in Microcontroller (may be in ATmega32 or PIC)
can anyone suggest me which is better and easier to impliment in controller.
Have anyone tried it (implimented) yet?
