I want to design a current steering DAC for my MS project...
Please help me....
I read some documents but i am unable to understand from where should I start ?
This is my 1st analog design project so I have no idea..my job profile is layout design engineer. Give me any relevant documents if you have.

Thanks in advance....

Re: Current Steering DAC

What is the accuracy that you have to achieve?
What is the resolution of your DAC.

Do you have space restrains?

First we start from our specs.

Then, a simple current steering DAC would be a mirror that will have multiple outputs depending on the bit. This is achieved by sizing the mirrors transistor according the bit:

LSB= 2^0=1 there fore if generator transistor has size Q LSB branch has Q
2^1=2 branch 2xQ
2^2=4 branch 4xQ etc
