Why current mode operation increases data rate than voltage mode operation?
And is their any disadvantages using current mode operation?

I don't think that this statement is generally true. However, such a question cannot be simply answered as it really depends on the specific application. More than that, in many cases a transition from current mode to voltage mode is required at the end of the processing chain - with the consequence that a possible advantage of current mode processing is lost again.
