Connect leds with cellphone?

Perhaps the easiest place to tap for power is at the charging connector. Maybe 5V? Then you just need an inline resistor to drop the voltage to the led.

You can fasten a bright white led to the phone, but the wiring will be cumbersome and prone to break.

Could the phone screen itself be bright enough to do the job? I've heard of lives being saved because someone used a cellphone as a flashlight.
