Confusion during licensing of VLSI Tools : HostID vs MAC ID

Hi there,

I was trying to install vlsi tool in RHEL6.

I have got Demo Node-locked license.

INCREMENT xxxxx mgcld 20xx.020 x-feb-20xx 0 DE94208776963471F08C \
VENDOR_STRING=0C47136D HOSTID=XXXXXXXXXXXX (12 Digit Number)

Now i go to terminal and Type "hostid" XXXXXXXX to get 8-Digit Number.
Again, i use "/sbin/ifconfig -eth0" there i find "Hwaddr XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX"

So, what are these two IDs that i am observing ?.
Which is the correct MAC ID. If so, what do you call the other ID as ?

Use 'lmutil hostid' rather than the Linux 'hostid' program.
