The aim of this project was to build a decorative device for listening to the online radio or browse YouTube. The assumptions were that it would base on mini itx plate with a separate processor. The radiator is the main decorative element.
Construction
  1. Firstly, buy the appropriate box made of wood (a casket for jewellery), then clean it out carefully.
  2. Then cut the foot of aluminum plate (and cooling holes in it). The foot was necessary, because the bottom of the box was made of a poor board, and the Noctua DH-14 cooling weighed almost one kg. By the way it turned out, that the way of installing provided by the manufacturer does not work, because the supporting element of the radiator interferes from the bottom with integrated circuits.
  3. Properly prepared foot solved both problems. Screwed through wooden floor stays extremely solid, stiffening the whole structure. In addition, 4 longer screws in the middle maintain the giant radiator. A new masking was cut from aliminum plate.
  4. Assembly of components. The plate is Intel DG45FC – ideal for building the computer. DC-DC power supply with an external power supply (both 120W) were added. Instead of the disc, CF card reader and Silicon power card X200 4GB. In this device, processor Celeron D440, the fastest possible on Conroe L (only 35W power consumption!) was used.
  5. Now the device presented in the following pictures is made:

It performs very well. XBMC system was installed in version Live. It works really fast and plays smoothly a full HD film. Installed fans purr quietly, listening to the radio is very nice.
