Hi Guys,
Doing circuit layout at the moment and getting tight on space, I have space under LI battery holder, clearance height of about 2mm. Is this ok to populate under or best to avoid such practice.

Thanks

not a good idea

through hole or surface mount?
there are (were?) capacitors designed to fit under old style DIP ICs -14, 16, 20, 24 pin DIPS, 0.3 inch and 0.6 inch wide

maybe you can mount a few components on the back side ?

Thanks for reply.
I am doing SMD was looking at some 0402 and sot23 mosfet packages. They would have low profile.
Would you think better not too mount directly mount under battery holder or better to use the other side of PCB

Easy peasy

it's OK as long as the soldering will be reliable - and there is a very small chance you will ever need to get to the components underneath for service or other reasons, e.g. calibration, setup ...
