Communication range of Serial RS232 cable.

Hi all,
Can ayone tell me the communication range of serial RS232 cable from the PC.
Means how much distance from PC is it able to communicate?

That first line is wrong. The official TIA/EIA-232-F standard clearly says "the maximum length of the cable is not defined". However, it does specify a maximum capacitance of 2500pF. Also, I don't see any words in the standard about allowable number of devices. However, it does specify load impedance and signal rise/fall characteristics.
