Is there any simple and small circuit which I can convert 110Vdc to 24Vdc(50mA)?

convert 110vdc to 24vdc

If you need it to be safe you have to use a transformer.

EDIT: This is wrong because Smb asked about 110V DC. Sorry. I saw 110V and thought about mains electricty. Well caught hr_rezaee and sinip.

resistor for 110/24vdc

Hi smb,

The simplest way to do this is by using a TL783C, it's a circuit similar
to a LM317. But it will run hot like hell, therefore you should bolt the
TL738C to a heatsink and connect it to the 110V through a 1k/5W resistor.

You can't use transformer for DC. It is for AC only!!!

110v dc

if u dont want to use LM just check current requirement of ur object which is to b drawn with 24V and then use a combination of resistances to block required voltage

ig resistors r getting burnt use high power i.e. normal resistors r 1/4 watt
u use 2 watt

You can do that only if very small curent is needed. Look, voltage difference is 86V and if the current is only 0.1A the resistor needed is more than 8W!!! So resistor solution is probably out of question, and it will disipate too much heat anyway.

Hi
May be a AC-DC IC should be better!

it is mentioned in first post that current requirement is 50mA then why to go for big circuity

But it still makes 4W dissipation. OK, so if the current is constantly 50mA you can put resistor (calculation of its value is quite simple) and 1W 24V zener diode to stabilise it and then feed whatewer device you need to be at 24V. But remember resistor must be 4W or more! And don't touch it or have some flamamble material nearby.

110v dc to 24vdc

dissipation how.......?

if accross resistor then it is
(110-24)x50m=4.3W

then u will need 5W resistor (i dont know it is available or not)
and it makes 1.72 KΩ Value

so u should use some series parallel combination to make exactly 1.72KΩ

110/24 dc converter

Dear,

Check phoenixcontact Site and MINI-PS Series Power Supplies.

www.phoenixcontact.com

Very good quality and works with both ac & dc inputs.

Good Luck!

And what did I say? When I say dissipation I mean heat dissipation. There will be 4 W turned into heat so it will run quite hot.

use a dc-dc converter as Buck

its the thing friend is asking us to give a circuit for that

110vdc zener diode

Dear,

use a miniature DC/DC Converter.

I attached a Example Datasheet from TracoPower THP3 that convert 36~180V DC

input range to -12/+12V 125ma . you can use it as a 24 V Converter.

another example: check this link,C&D TECHNOLOGIES DC/DC Converter Selection guide

http://www.cd4power.com/data/power/cd-dcdc_pdb1.pdf

also take a look at XP POWER Site, they have nice products.

Good Luck

110 v dc to 24 v dc

hi
I finished 110vDC to 12Vdc &2A by LM3524 .It is work so good.

110vdc 24vdc dc dc converters circuits

wht actually LM means.........???

Added after 5 minutes:

my diode gets blown every time i use.......i hav used TIP31C instead of 2SC1062
NPN SILICON TRANSISTOR.......is this causing the diode to blow off or ny wrong
specification in d circuit........

help me out in knowing d problem in my circuit

convert 110 vdc

for 50mA out put ,you can use a resistor & zener diod.

Added after 4 minutes:

for 110vdc to 12vdc ,the best choice is a computer power suplly.

Hai narsimha0350
As per the given schematic, nothing seems wrong and the zener diode shoudnt blow off. If it does, may be the transistor is short. Please check. Goodluck
