Choosing the right hardware platform!

Hi all ,

i want to do a linux embedded system based project wich i use a camera for detecting obstacles ,and i don't know what processor performance i need for that,
So i'm confused in choosing an hardware platform (Board) for this project.

I am not an expert but I think an ARM or MIPS processor is a must.

You can think of ARM based microcntrollers. NXP LPC2XXX series can provide you necessary peripherals and interfaces for controlling a camera and motor.
