How does the cds technique in SC filters reduces the noise?what is the range of fflicker noise in any circuit?

cds basically takes two samples very close in time & later subtracts them and in the process it reduces the noise. I used it in CMOS Image sensors design to reduce the Fixed Pattern Noise.

I read that it acts as HPF filter for 1/f noise. But if my filter itself is HPF ,then how can i reduce noise using this method?
