Can we use IC 5.141 to design a digital system ?

Hi all,
I use IC 5.141, Can I use it to design a digital system ? That mean can I use it to describe system, write RTL code, synthesis, ... ? Can I use it to design a digital system as some software such as MaxPlus or Xilinx ?
Can anyone give me some ideal about that?

of course, you can not design a digital system with IC5.141 only,
IC is tool set that focus on analog system or full custom design.
you can do it with maxplus or xilinx, but it is only for FPGA
 

You can use IC5.141 to design a digital system,

but i think u cannot do RTL & synthesis,

May be u can design a circuit schematics and then do the manual layout for the circuit,

Maxplus & Xilinx software are for implementing Digital circuit's in standard FPGA's,

Where are if use IC5.141, we have to go for customised digital system impementation in an ASIC
 

IC5141 is transistor level tool, that means you can design digital ic by hand layout instead of automatic P&R.
I think it's useful if you want to design a special digital block. But for a big system, it will take you too much time.
 

Yes, IC is used to design digital systems. But IC (you might see it called Virtuoso) typically fits into a larger digital IC design flow. You create digital cells with IC, then have a synthesizer take a VHDL or Verilog design and map the design into your digital cells created in IC.
To create a large custom ditigal ASIC at the transistor level would take too long, years. Even creating the digital cell library in IC takes a long time. The digital cells have to be captured, layed out, charaterized, tested, revised, optimized, etc.
 

You can use it to design digital system, but not as you want (HDL --> Syntesis -> Place and Route which require other set of tools). Nornally for IC5141, you have to draw the schematic (using the digital cell library), then create the layout using standard cells.
