Im seeking to buy a low cost USB PIC programmer online. PIC KIT 2 seems to be a good choice and i wanted to know if those clones including zif sockets availabe at ebay for 40$ can be trusted to last long. (The programmer alone costs this much if i were to purchase at microchip, shipping costs exclusive and im not even sure if they ship to SriLanka)
I'd also like to know if there are other sites from which i'd be able to purchase a quality programmer.
It's also good if you could recommend any other good programmer which costs less.
Thankyou
Hi,
Clones may be as good but why take the risk? As stated above, clones are clones and it's better that you get the real deal. It's best to get the PICKIT2 off Microchip. I'm not sure about the shipping to Sri Lanka.
i just meant that clones(many of them) don't have the Vdd adj facility and only fwew have support transistors for the icsp pin drives.
basically many clones follow the microchip basic diagram and make their changes. if one is interested perhaps he /she could well home brew a through hole counter part s, a thread started by computerman29. and good pcb layout worked out by Nishal.
