high tension power lines

is there chances of being electrocuted in a high tension wire which has broken and fallen down to the ground?
if the point where the wire is broken is far from where it originated.

i mean the circuit will not be complete , even when the earth is grounded , the ground should make a complete circuit for current to flow which would be negligible if the base station is vary far.
plz explain.

Falling of the high tension wire to the ground will just have a contact to the ground but this will not be sufficient to sink all the potential in the conductor. Thus anyone coming in contact with the wire will ceratinly electrocuted. Cheers

Do not risk it!

Even if the power line seems to be safe while grounded, please remember that YOU will be part of the grounding circuit if you handle the cable and YOU might be the fuse that blows!

Beside the danger of electricity from the source, remember that thunderstorms and static discharges can also electrify a line without warning.

is it a case of broken circuit or its still a complete circuit, as the current can still flow.

Its a broken but partial circuit, as the wires are touching the ground but not properly "grounded". Cheers
