boundary optimization in synthesis

Hi All,
Can anyone explain what is two-level and multi-level Boundary optimization.. and I wanna know what are all the optimization done during BDD opto..

Thanks
Aravind R.

boundary optimization synthesis

Boundary optimization results fastest critical paths and smallest design.

Basically four optimizations collectively called as Boundary optimization in synthesis (wrto DC).
a) Inversion pushing across hierarchy.
b)propagation of equal and opposite information
c)propagation of unconnected /undriven ports.
d) propagation of constants..

I am not sure about multilvel Boundary optimization...

Regards,
Sam

Can i just use the singal command" compile -boundary_optimization" to achive the synthesis results what we have expected?

or
wheather it is a must or not?
