My project would be interfacing bluetooth and lcd with a flash drive. my goal is to create a flash drive that will transfer files from one usb flash drive to another wirelessly through bluetooth..so this is convenient file sharing.

now my problem is that..i have 0% background on this.

pls tell me the specific materials that i should buy to come up with my project.
pls help me..thanks:sad:

Hai,

I have some base in PIC Micro controllers,i would like to join with you,but i don't have experience in bluetooth.Which type of bluetooth? (Is it a usb dongle?)

Hello, of course we welcome people to help us with this project? but we are in the philippines, how can we help each other?

with the bluetooth, i don't think it would be just a dongle. i want a device that would store files (like a flash drive) and sends files directly to another flash drive, a cell phone or a computer. that would be trough bluetooth.

hope u can help

Hai,

usb+bluetooth.
Do you have any idea about your project.Which micro controller you use?

I think we need micro controller,Bluetooth and a memory.

hello again, yes thats what we need, but what exact mcu?bluetooth and memory?
that's what i want to know. most of all, the programming phase is something i have no idea with.

i hope you can help me..thanks

Hai,

We can use pic 18f series. How much memory we required?Whether we need a display for selecting bluetooth device (if more than one bluetooth is present)

yes, i have been advised to use PIC184550 mcu, but im not quite sure of the information. or if it really is the proper mcu. Memory, probably 1-2gb memory is ok for starters like this..i want to know if its possible to find a ready microcontroller with usb flash drive parts, so we'll just be interfacing the bluetooth..

display would be an lcd for showing detected bluetooth device.i know this is somehow a nice project. an innovation. but how can we start this up?

can we start buying things?what should we buy first?thanks

Its just impossible to connect a USB flash drive to a PIC18F4550 controller. (You need a controller with USB HOST, Example PIC controllers are PIC24 and PIC32 series)
k, if your using a PIC32 :? again there is problem, you can't connect two USB drives(Flash drive and bluetooth dongle). Microchip USB Host/Device stack is free, you can download it from their site. Anyway go ahead post your doubts here.
Check this this video (PIC32 reading text file from a 4GB flash drive).

Good Luck.

Actually, im not trying to connect a usb flash drive to a pic18f4550, what im trying to do is to create a flash drive using the 18f4550 as my mcu. is that possible?so the components of "my flash drive" would be:

the pic184550
the memory
the bluetooth.

so this is basically creating a NEW flash drive out of scratch,
sir, would you help me identify which materials should i buy first?thanks

I think you can start your project with this question,

What Bluetooth profile would you use for these project.

**broken link removed**

this link shows different profiles or protocols Bluetooth allows and correct me if im wrong, it doesnt have any that would describe how a usb flash drive would work using bluetooth,

in my opinion, the closest will be using FTP through bluetooth to access the files.

thanks sir, but first things first, what micrococntroller should i use?thanks

k, you can use pic18f4550, if you are using non-USB bluetooth modules and mmc or any other non-usb storage devices. But don't expect normal USB flash drive speed, speed may be in the range of kb.

Good Luck.

sir, basically, i need to create a flash drive that has bluetooth and lcd.
this to directly transfer files easily to bluetooth devices like cellphones..is there a 18f4550 kit with nand flash memory on it..and other flash drive parts?tnx

i want help regarding host controller driver for PIC32..... actually i want to interface a (device)GPRS modem(USB interface) to PIC32(host) USB port..
please let me know where i can find host driver files?

Regards
Zeeshan

Cheers from Russia! :) I'm study in college and i work on USB Bluetooth Flash Drive without Led Display.
