Hi guys,

Any idea what is the function and purpose of the beta multiplier reference that is used in the charge pump of a DLL?

Thank you!

Hi,

The circuit is same as a constant-gm biasing circuit used to generate bias currents. The current in nmos (those with gates to vbiasn) is (delta_vgs / R) and you can use vbias to generate bias currents in other circuits

Thank you for your reply. What is a constant-gm biasing circuit? what is gm? thanks again.

By gm i mean the transconductance of the mos. For constant-gm biasing you can refer any of the books on analog ckt design (razavi or grey, meyer) or some of the threads in eda have the references.
