avery berkel help needed please

Hi there,
I am hoping so much that someone can help me here, I have an avery berkel m400 scales/pos cash register all in one, as far as im aware the plug for the till mecanism is a din type.
I have purchased a till drawer to suit and it has to be a flip top as i have very limited space, the problem is that i have recieved the drawer with an rj11 connector, is there any way or worth trying to cut it off and connect a din to it, would it work?
