pls guys, for my project i'm looking at calculating my power factor by getting the phase difference of the voltage and current waveforms from a voltage transformer and current transformer connected to my load ...... (dont know if this is the best approach, new ideas are welcome)

moreso, this phase difference will be generated by a microcontroller and here's where the bulk of my challenge is
1) which microcontroller is best to use?
2)how am i connecting my transformers to my microcontroller?
3)is dere a need to use a zero crossing detector circuit? if yes, how would i apply it?
4)i'm a novice in programming microcontrollers.... any helpful tutorial especially in this project line is welcome??
