I am using a SIM900 modem, and I use the command AT+CENG to get info about serving cell and neighboring towers in order to estimate the location of the modem. I would like to use TA from all neighboring towers for improving the accuracy.

The parameter TA (Timing Advance) is only given for the serving cell. Is there a way to force the modem to switch serving cell to one of the neighboring towers?

One way could be to switch to another frequency band, but it does not seem optimal (e.g. described here: https://www.gsm-modem.de/gsm-location.html). I would rather be able to choose which cellID should be the serving cell.
