diy rs232 to ethernet

I've used the XPORT from lantronix. It works ok. http://www.lantronix.com/pdf/XPort_DS.pdf

what ever approach you take, you should be aware that all the ethernet modules require a suprising amount of power. Usually > 200mA. A clean power system that can deliver the current is critical. I built one using a linear and had real heat problems. I'd use a switcher instead.
