Application of Perl for ASIC Verification

What are the possible applications of Perl in ASIC verificaiton? Is Peral a good choice?
 

yes, you can use Perl to do some tool command automation execution and data format transfer!
 

You may also consider ability of using Python language for ASIC verification. Python have user friendly syntax (in comparision with Perl) and many modules.
This example of project that uses Python as a hardware description and verification language: Welcome to MyHDL [MyHDL]
 

yes, python is also a good script language for verification guys to use!
 

furthermore you can use script to do some testbench auto generation work!
