Hi,

I am trying to import an outline from DWG-format into my PCB as a mechanical layer. This was very easy in Protel 99, but obviously a little more complicated in Altium Designer.

I have it imported into CAMtastic but I can not get it the last step from CAMtastic to my PCB file.

'Export to PCB' is greyed out. I have tried to follow the help file instructions, which did not really help me. I hope that someone could tell me which part I am missing to make it work.

Best regards..

you can import DWG and DXf directly into a pcb file.
Make sure your scale is correct or it will not show up properly.

Hi loosemoose,

you can import DWG and DXf directly into a pcb file.

How do I do this? By Copy-Paste? Because when I open a PcbDoc and use the Import Wizard, I only have the options shown in the attached PNG image.

first create a new pcb.
Then you can import the DWG. Command is under 'File', 'Import', then use the drop down box by 'Files of type'

hope this is clear enough.

This was exactly as clear as I needed it. I had completely overlooked that entry in the menu.
