Hello all,

What is in your opinion a good book or a free online course that revolves around designing a processor with RISC ISA?. MIPS for example or any other processor, but it has to be hands-on like implementation on FPGA preferably using Verilog.

thanks in advance.

Hi,
go through google u get lot of risc and mips processor but what is your risc processor specifications,

thanks and regards
bhaskar

Since no specifics are mentioned, try these:

1> A FPGA Implementation of a MIPS RISC Processor for Computer Architecture Education
By: Victor P. Rubio, B.S.

2> A MIPS R3000 microprocessor on an FPGA
By: Charles Brej

I think these are available online for free.

@bhaskarskj1 I really don't have a specifications I just want to learn processor design hands-on. by the way what do you mean by "specifications", do you mean a specific ISA?

Hi ammar_kurd,

1. What purpose you need risc process
2.8 bit processor/16 bit.....

3. clock speed 50 Mhz/25 Mhz...

4. No. of instruction sets (addition, sub, increment, dec.....)

5. alu depth

6.Any other additional features

Search in google for different Risc processor designs, finalize one and start to implement in verilog
