ADS1232 interface with Mega8

Hi All,
Few weeks back i got this ADS1232REF kit from texas instruments. As it comes with the source code with it, but its of no use as its compiled with FREERTOS. I've ordered a spare ADS1232 too , but i am stuck with the interface. Its a normal SPI interface but i've never worked with it. I want to interface it with mega8 mcu so that i can send adc values over serial strings.
Can anyone help me out.
Attached is the orignal source code from TI for MSP430.
