about vlsi training information

i m ankit and i m doing engineering in elecrtonics and communication branch(2nd year).
i want to ask to all of u that when i should take training in vlsi and what are the other trainings we should do in our electronics engineering life.
please tell me soon. i have lot of confusions!!!!!!

hardware circuits or software programming

then decide your core stream in which you should focus Communication/VLSI/Embedded Analog/Digital Design....

ok u r right but i have a problem ?
i dont know that whethet i should go for software or hardware?
secondly, i have lots of querry related to my carrier
people told me that we can do electronics engineering but ultimately in our country as IT industries are more
so we have to go towards software industrty.............infact in our coll also there is 95% placement are in IT and rest are place in core
so what to do tell me soon????????????
