About AT89S52-24PC

I would like to ask about the crystal oscillator frequency of the AT89S52-24PC.

What is the maximum oscillator frequency can be used with this model of microcontroller?

From datasheet it stated is 24MHz. But is it possible to use 33MHz crystal oscillator instead of 24MHz ?

Will it damage the Microcontroller if i use 33MHz instead of 24MHz ?

the datasheet freq is guaranteed one.

above that it may or it maynot oscillate.

other than that if you change the frequency at will ,
8952 series 'timing' will get affected and your pgm may not run proper if it
depends on internal timer.

as internal timer reg in timer mode gets its clock from xtal freq.

so better go by atmel datasheet.

it may or maynot.

the guaranteed freq applies to all subblocks.

you can test it if you can spare one.

Lots of people overclock microcontrollers and most do not have problems ..
If it runs, it just runs and programs written for 33MHz will function properly ..

I overclock the at89s52 to 48MHz with an active crystal, It works fine.
