Dear sir,
74hct is only a three stage buffer how it can change level,
and in resistor voltage divider only 5 v can be converted to 3v but 3v from spi cant be boosted for micro to a 5 v.
Regards

Hi ,

These bi directional translator chips from TI or Analog Devices come in 4 and 8 bit versions, designed to converting voltages and data direction is automatically sensed.

They are reasonably cheap if you can find them in your area, smd only though.

And why not use directly a processor powered with 3V, if choice not fixed ?
For example, with Microchip, consider PIC24 and PIC32 rather than PIC16 or PIC18, they are at similar prices, but give more !

You can use pic 18LFxxx supplied from 3.3v. In this way you won't have to modify the software (ifalready existing), you only have to check the other i/o pins for correct operations
