3 bit shift register?

3 bit shift register

hi,
i got fundamental doubt-- sequence length of 8, how it is possible with 3 bit regiser

hi.. if u look at the 3-bit counter... the sequence is:
000
001
010
011
100
101
110
111

thus total of 8 sequences and to represnt 8 sequences you would need 2^n=8 => n=3.

thus, 3 registers... even other wise you can see that each register wld hold each bit and thus 3 registers...
