Pioneer DVD-RW DVR 110D 1.08 won't burn dvd

Hi there, I bought a used pineeer dvd-rw dvr110D and installed it to may ibm x205 computer. I swicthed the jumper to slave since the desktop has an existing cd rom drive. My ibm recognized the pioneer, but when I tried to burn a dvd using burn4free or nero. The software and pioneer can't do its job. What could have been the problem? Do you think I need a driver for the pioneer? pls help.
 

Check for a firmware update for the drive. That usually fixes problems.
Did the software return any errors?
Does the software have a "Verify" mode? If so, turn it on.

Happy New Year, thank you for reply. I try to download freeware to no availe. Can you recommend a particular firmware that could work with my dvd writer. :|
