Hello everyone,
can anyone explain what is asic prototyping ? all what i know is that is a verification method for asic's but verification at which level? also if it is verification for the function of my design so what is the importance of EDA tools that make this role?

Hi,

I think it is only for the Functional Verification of ASIC. On programming FPGA, we can check the ASIC IP to verify the functionality, whether it is implemented as per the Protocol or Design Specifications.

And the Area and Timing estimation can be done. But it shows normally higher because of FPGA's complex architecture and routing.

So, ASIC prototyping of FPGA verifies only the functionality.

yes you r right, for verification only i have known that it also more helpful in ASICs that contain processors. because normal verification tools can't process then the ASIC verification as fast as prototyping can achieve.
