REDHAT 9.0 work with EDA tools

you can try mandrake9.0. it's work well with synop$ys($yn, pt, tm@x etc); c@dence(ldv4, ic5); ment0r(m0del$im, ic$t@tion, c@l)

FYI, the following tools have been successfully run on RH linux 8.0.

Cadence IC5.0
LDV5.0

Hspice 2002.2

Please add more items to the list. I only regret that Star-hspice-awaves is not available to Linux yet, so I can not fully integrate Hspice Interface to IC5.0. I used to run hspice instead of Spectre on Solaris. It is a pain in the ass that I can not use hspice to see the waveform instantly after simulation.

i belive most of synopsys tools do work on RH 8.0 as it has stated in their T-series releases. that is for version 2002.03, 2002.05, 2002.09 and 2002.12. of course the U-series which is newer version of the T-series will have no problem running in RH 8.0. U-series include 2003.03, 2003.06 and 2003.09

u can use $ynopsys cosm0s scope to view the waveform.

L_D_V has lib trouble

I find other E_D_A Tools (including C_@_d_e_n_ce, S_Y_n_o_p_sys, M_e_n_tor) are OK on Redhat Linux 9.0.

Only L_D_V has lib trouble when running N_C_S_I_M.

but when i install ic5 at redhat9 ,it says:

I have not met the troubles you faced because my OS is upgraded from RH8 to RH9. When in RH8, I install these tools. What I said is that they still can be run under an upgrade RH9, except N_C_S_!_m.

EDA tools on Redhat 9.0

Please set environment LD_ASSUME_KERNEL to 2.4.1 on redhat 9.0.
In bash command,
export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1
Then you can solve most of the compatibility problems on Redhat 9.0.

tetramax2002.9 can not work on Redhat 9.0 with LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1 though it works on RedHat 8.0.
Anyone can solve this problem?

Syn0psis 2003.03 and nc 4.1 are OK with RH9

I am trying to install Synopsy 2002.05 on RH 9.0. I tried using

export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1

and my installation is stucking at

WARNING: Invalid platform(s) LINUX. Skipping ...

Select platform(s) to install:

LINUX
}
Enter the list of platform(s) to install [LINUX]:
linux

Can anyone plz help me out.

Synopsys 2002.05 does not work on Redhat 8.0 and above

when you stuck at

WARNING: Invalid platform(s) LINUX. Skipping

the easiest way to work around is

"mv linux LINUX" or "mv LINUX linux" (forgot which one is savior)

in your install directory.

I find if copy from windows to linux,the letter
will change .So you should uncompress in linux ,you will not need to change name
from linux to LINUX.This truble i have meet
several time.

Well, I can't make IC 5.0 install on RH 9.0. I only manage to install it in RH 8.0. Some how, it will give me error on the lnx86.tools (seems like it's looking for Tools instate of lnx86.tools) while I try to load it. I am not sure why is that happened, since I got no problem on the other machine.

For S_Y_N_O_P_S_Y_S tools, they only recommend user to use RH 7.2, as far as I know although some might work well with RH 9.

If you are trying to install any linux version tool, please check with its release note. RH 7.2 should be a good choice for most EDA tools.

I also can't install $ynop$y$ DC on RatHat 9.0
