555 Timer Help

I need to use a 555 mono timer to input 1 pulse and 555 astable to output 10 pulses. My text book says use a and gate but does not explain how to put it together. Any suggestions are appreciated. I guess it is also called a frequency multiplier. But I really don't have much experience so I am a little confused.

I tried using the circuit below and I get one long steady pulse instead of 10 separate ones

Re: 555 Timer Help

You can use an AND gate, but you don't need to ..
One 555 [monostable] can control another 555 [astable] via the RESET pin .. see attached picture ..

Re: 555 Timer Help

If you need exactly ten pulses you also need a counter and inhibit signal for the astable 555.
