Can we convert composite into analoge RGB using fpga

help required urgently to convert composite to RGB signals.using cpld or fpga.
Any core available or info which i can read about it.?

how do you convert 3 composite to 5 composite

As fas as I known, What we can do in FPGA is the conversion from YUV to RGB format. So, you need Video decoder chip to decode analog signal to digital YUV data.

Difinetly you can convert composit into analog RGB using A/D and D/A as the analog interface and the FPGA do the required processing on the digitized samples. you can find the equations that relates RGB, YUV, and CVBS in "video demistified book" or any book deal with digital video.

it is no problem to do the translation, even 10 years ago, I considered it, but at that ime, fpga is not powerful enough. right now, no problem

What is the resolution required of the ADC (and the DAC) and the bandwidth? Would it be possible to change the colors, constrast, etc of the image and quickly dump it back?

Does anyone know methods (or reference designs) of doing the opposite, i.e. RGB to NTSC through an FPGA.

There was a open-source video encoder project in opencores but seems that it was removed recently (not open-source anymore?)

It didn´t work either...had bugs from the author by intention....

TVP5150 from TI accepts composite and svhs and spits out 8 bit 4:2:2 YcbCr and discrete syncs; it's cheap; and all you need to do is a 3x3 matrix multiplication to get RGB; xilinx has app note

on a standalone fpga u can not do it. for that u need some more supported ics which will be ur interfaces for the analog signals. with fpga u can make the transformations

Saa7111A from PHILIPS can do this work .
and what's more I am using this chip now.
:)

it's output is programmable ,you may contol it using IIC bus. and let the output to be YUV or RGB

Y dont u use video decode and video encoder IC dirctly which are avilable in the market and also not expansive dirctly. i think that would be the best solution. Analog devices and Philips r having a range and variety of products that can solve ur purpose.

So FPGA is not strong in video signal conversion media..
Has any one try scan convertor on FPGA?

using pwm you can , impliment the d/a in any digital system , need ex r and c for low pass filtering .
