Hi;

I am trying to design a transimpedance amplifier for optical communications. From, what i have understood from "Optical Communications by Razavi", is that the diode current should be converted to a voltage and then amplified!

I dont understand the concept of the RF feedback resistance. Like is it only required for the 1st stage to convert the current to a voltage. And then we can employ a wideband high gain amplifier?

Thanks
