Thats an Interesting , Debatable Question

A Friend asked me that ..... Lets see

Tokyo japan : You sit In a Helicopter Raise it to a Certain Heght

and Stand Still there for 4 hrs .....

The Eath below you is Continuously Rotating

Is is that after 4 hours ... if you land verticaly downward you will land not in Tokyo but somewhere Else

or If u Land in Tokyo what made the Helicopter Rotate with Earth

Whats ur answer

aajizattari,
The air mass above the surface of the Earth is rotating at the same angular veloctity as the surface of the Earth.
.
If you were in a vehicle on a rotating planet with no atmosphere, and could rise above the planet using, for example, rocket power, then the vehicle would "fall behind" the point of demarcation of the planet at a rate depending on the height above the planet. The reason is that the linear velocity of the vehicle would remain constant due to inertia. In order to "keep up" with a point on the surface of the airless planet, the vehicle would have to increase its linear velocity with respect to the surface in order to maintain its initital angular velocity.
Regards,
Kral

One amusing piece of history. Many years ago the argument against a rotating earth was that the air would blow constantly because it was not rotating.
