How to convert a Normally Open (NO) inductive proximity switch to Normally Closed (NC) one ?

Can we use a relay ? If yes, then, of how many pins & how to wire it up ?

Can we converter NPN inductive Proximity Switch to a PNP inductive Proximity Switch by the same fashion ?

thanks

I don't know about NPN inductive Proximity Switch. but NO can be converted to Normal close with a by using a relay in series with the proximity switch and using its normally closed contact

A normal open contact cant be physically converted to NC. if the switch has three terminals then one of them will be common, one will be normal open and one will be normal close.

Does the output of a NPN proximity switch (sensor) negative ? Negative w.r.t what ? what reference ?
Does the output of a PNP proximity switch (sensor) positive ? Positive w.r.t what ? what reference ?

Question regarding the wiring diagram that you provided :

Use NC contact of the relay in all of the four (4) different cases ????

Of what pin relay should be used ?

thanks

Look sharp. kak111's example circuit answers your questions completely.

Yes, switches -supply voltage, reference +suply voltage.

Have you a part number?

Here is simple answer, I use this for alarms, also isolate sensor from main circuit :

Senzor NC NO Connections.jpg

Also You can use 12V voltage if You put some higher resistor, and make sure to make good calc for resistor for diode in optocoupler (lower as possible for lower consuption of current).

Also with this You can make very chip laser alarm with one photo transistor and cheap laser torch.
