Hi,

I am currently enrolled in a MS(EE) program at Purdue University and am looking for internships in hardware design, fpga, physical deisgn. However i havent got any calls yet and the semester is coming to and end. I have an offer from cadence design systems but that is in India.

So my doubt is will it be beneficial to do the internship in India or stay here for the summer and finish of my masters by december. Please let me know wat u think abt this.

thanks

my vote: go for the internship. Bring your sun tan lotion ... going to be hot there in the summer. I have lived abroad for about 5 years now and it is life-changing to say the least. You learn a lot about how other cultures approach a problem. Having international experience is a huge plus these days. Also, cadence is a leader in many areas (especially IC design) so im sure the work would be interesting. I worked before finishing my masters and it gives a you a much better "big picture" view of whats happening. Also it may help you find a good direction for a PhD thesis. good luck.

Well im not looking to do a PhD as of now. My concern is since the internship is in India will it have the same value as an internship in the USA. More specifically, from the point of view of recruiters in USA....And yes being Cadence the work should be interesting...

Regards

I would argue that recruiters would highly value an internship abroad. I worked with guys from India, etc. while I was in industry. Most big companies are global and have people from all over. And smaller companies are always looking to expand there market into other regions. So in my opinion it is much more valuable. any recruiters out there to comment on this? :)
