Semi rigid cable RG405

Hello,

I read that semi-rigid cable is very usefull. I bought RG402 cable but i think that it is not very manageable. Maybe the most common rigid cable is RG405?? Thanks a lot!

what is your freq?
we used to use RG405.
 

Hello!

It is 2.44Ghz. RG402 is too difficult to solder in pcbs...
 

RG405 can be used to 10G, or even to 15G if you don't care VSWR.

At 1GHz, RG402 (2.2mm) has 0.64 dB/m attenuation, when RG405 (3.58mm) has 0.37 dB/m.

As a general rule, a thicker coax cable have lower insertion loss and higher power capability than a thinner one, with the same dielectric.
Is preferable to use a thicker one because anyway semi-rigid cables are used generally in places where they don't move too much.
