hfss connector simulation

I'm trying to simulate the connection of 2 board-to-board connectors and the 2 PCB's that they are connected to in HFSS. I'm essentially new to HFSS so does anyone know of a tutorial that could help me with this specific problem?

Specifically, I need help in:
- defining ports for differential signaling in HFSS
- defining ground pins and ground planes in the connector in HFSS
- simulating soldering points in HFSS

Hello Kunai,

I am sorry I am currently unable to help you with any info since I am looking to find some tutorial exactly on what you have mentioned here. If you got some material can you please share it with me?

Thanks,
amadhav

Re: hfss connector simulation

i know answer for assigning differential ports.
right click excitations there will be options for giving differential pairs.

NOTE:This is applicable after defining lumped or wave port.

There is no specific definition of ground planes or pins...u have to define ports as per ur requirement(ie . one as signal and other as ground)...

Thanks very much zxcv123!

Can you please explain a little in detail as to where should the wave ports be assigned and if I need a PCB designed in order to increase the simulation exactness?

Regards,
amadhav

wave port must be defined between signal(microstrip/strip line) and ground(gnd plane)....

Maybe, I can help you! But ,you should tell me which version HFSS you use.
