I got the DEF/LEF files of a design. It seems that LEF file contains the information of the cells/macros the design uses. When I looked into the DEF file, I only found that it contains the cell placement(by the COMPONENTS statement) and the connection information (by the NETS statement). I didn't find the detailed routing information(like for a connection how should the wire go). But I suppose the DEF/LEF file of a design should contain all the information of the layout. Is there anything that I was missing?

Thanks.

the def file could contains the complete design, logical connection and physical connection, row&cells&macro&pads placement.

Thank you for replying. If a DEF file contains the physical connection, which statements specify that?

Physical data about net segments are described by wiring statements in DEF. From the DEF reference doc:

Code:
{+ COVER | + FIXED | + ROUTED | + NOSHIELD}
layerName [TAPER | TAPERRULE ruleName] [STYLE styleNum]
routingPoints
[NEW layerName [TAPER | TAPERRULE ruleName] [STYLE styleNum]
routingPoints
] ...

COVER, FIXED, ROUTED, NOSHIELD are the routing types and the routingPoints are the coordinates.

Thank you! If I didn't find the wiring statements in the DEF, does that mean there is no physical connection information in the file?
(I mean, is the wiring statements the only way to specify physical connection information in DEF?)

Thanks.

the routing step need to be complete and the def generation need to also include the physical informations.
